Below you can find information and FAQs regarding the Achieve Atlanta Scholarship processes!

We have changed the financial need criterion for the Achieve Atlanta Scholarship to align with the new FAFSA methodology starting in fall 2024.

Scholars will need to demonstrate financial need through a Student Aid Index (SAI) between -1,500 and 15,000 on their FAFSA Submission Summary to maintain eligibility.

Spring Renewal Application

Although the application will remain open for the majority of the spring term, we encourage Scholars to submit their Spring Renewal Application as soon as they have the information needed to complete it. Delayed completion leads to potentially being dropped from courses, late refunds, and budget difficulties. The last day a Spring Renewal Application can be submitted is January 8, 2024, at 11:59 pm, but we advise you to submit it as soon as possible.

The deadline will be extended twice after January 8 to accommodate students who may need additional time to finalize their spring course schedules, transfer schools, or need help with submitting their application or correct documents. The last two deadlines will be January 29, 2024, and February 26, 2024, both at 11:59 pm.

All Scholars were sent an email with their unique application link. They can also access their Spring Renewal Application by visiting their Scholar Dashboard.

Before contacting us, please make sure they do not see the link in their email inbox or junk/spam mail. If they cannot find their unique link, please reach out to and request the link. Once requested, we will text and email their application link directly to the phone number and email that we have in their Scholar profile.

Course documents are uploaded as Scholars complete their Spring Renewal Application. If their document is invalid (missing required information), they will receive an email specifying the issue with their document. Updated documents should be uploaded to the Scholar Dashboard for resubmission.

To access their personalized Scholar Dashboard, Scholars can visit and follow the instructions below:

First Time Users:

  1. Click “Not a member?”, complete the fields using the email associated with your Achieve Atlanta profile, and create a password.
  2. Complete the verification step by accessing the code emailed to you.

Returning Users:

  1. Log in using your username and password.
  2. After logging in, click the “Current Application” tab to track the processing of your application.

It depends. If the Scholar will have a spring course schedule before the fall term ends, then we recommend they wait. If registration is taking longer than anticipated or they do not expect to have a full schedule before the fall term ends, we recommend that they still complete the application. Scholars who submit their Spring Renewal Application without a schedule will need to upload a document explaining why they do not have one when the spring course is requested in the renewal application.

Yes, if a Scholar is on probation and is waiting for fall grades, please wait until they have their academic information for the fall term, as they will have to enter their transcript and academic data into the application.

We will accept PDF files and pictures/screenshots as valid forms of documentation. We will not accept Word documents.

Please ensure that your course schedule shows the following:

  • Your name OR student ID number
  • School name or logo (if the school’s name is listed in the browser link of a screenshot, that is acceptable)
  • Term name (e.g. “Spring 2024” or “Fall 2023”)
  • Credits enrolled (Scholars are required to be enrolled full time in a minimum of 12 credit hours)

Achieve Atlanta Appeals

The deadline to submit an appeal for the spring 2024 term is 2/28.

Scholars who are facing extenuating circumstances and/or are on the margins of eligibility (i.e., an EFC just above our eligibility threshold or a GPA/completion rate just below our academic requirements) may be good candidates for an appeal.

Students who are graduating in the current term and have less than a full-time course load to meet their graduation requirements may also be good candidates for an appeal.

Please encourage them to submit supporting documentation that clearly demonstrates any extenuating circumstances the student may be facing. You may also submit a statement on the student’s behalf.

If the student is submitting a part-time appeal, please have their advisor complete the part-time verification form.

To request an appeal link, Scholars should reach out to or give us a call at 404-880-3500 after they complete the renewal and submit all required documentation.

Once an appeal is submitted, we anticipate it will be reviewed within 3 weeks of the submission of all required documentation.

There currently is no limit to the number of appeals a scholar can submit. However, the Appeals Committee does consider a scholar’s total number of submitted appeals during the review process.

Check Disbursements

We send a letter that documents our disbursement guidance with every check.

Before returning a Scholarship check, please follow these steps:

  • Double-check the Achieve Atlanta Weekly Check Report to confirm if the student is part-time eligible.
  • Reach out to to inquire if the check needs to be returned.

Oftentimes, depending on various factors, Achieve Atlanta may make the decision to allow the student to keep the funds for the term.

The biggest reason a check should be returned is if a student is not enrolled at the institution (i.e., fully withdrawn, transferred, did not start classes).

Email with the email address you’d like added to the check report.

Scholars should direct questions to or 404-880-3500.

Financial aid administrators should direct questions to or 404-588-3208.

Refunds should be made out to Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and should include the student’s name, and/or ID, and the reason for returning the funds. Please mail the return check to:
