Achieve Atlanta Appeals

The deadline to submit an appeal for the fall 2023 term is 10/9.

Scholars who are facing extenuating circumstances and/or are on the margins of eligibility (i.e., an EFC just above our eligibility threshold or a GPA/completion rate just below our academic requirements) may be good candidates for an appeal.

Students who are graduating in the current term and have less than a full-time course load to meet their graduation requirements may also be good candidates for an appeal.

Please encourage them to submit supporting documentation that clearly demonstrates any extenuating circumstances the student may be facing. You may also submit a statement on the student’s behalf.

If the student is submitting a part-time appeal, please have their advisor complete the part-time verification form.

To request an appeal link, Scholars should reach out to scholarship@achieveatlanta.org or give us a call at 404-880-3500 after they complete the renewal and submit all required documentation.

Once an appeal is submitted, we anticipate it will be reviewed within 3 weeks of the submission of all required documentation.

There currently is no limit to the number of appeals a scholar can submit. However, the Appeals Committee does consider a scholar’s total number of submitted appeals during the review process.

Check Disbursements

We send a letter that documents our disbursement guidance with every check.

Before returning a Scholarship check, please follow these steps:

  • Double-check the Achieve Atlanta Weekly Check Report to confirm if the student is part-time eligible.
  • Reach out to finaid@achieveatlanta.org to inquire if the check needs to be returned.

Oftentimes, depending on various factors, Achieve Atlanta may make the decision to allow the student to keep the funds for the term.

The biggest reason a check should be returned is if a student is not enrolled at the institution (i.e., fully withdrawn, transferred, did not start classes).

Email jraphael@achieveatlanta.org with the email address you’d like added to the check report.

Scholars should direct questions to scholarship@achievealtlanta.org or 404-880-3500.

Financial aid administrators should direct questions to finaid@achieveatlanta.org or 404-588-3208.

Refunds should be made out to Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and should include the student’s name, and/or ID, and the reason for returning the funds. Please mail the return check to:
