Spring Renewal Application
How does a Scholar find their Spring Renewal link?
All Scholars will be sent an email with their unique application link. They can also access their Spring Renewal Application by visiting their Scholar Dashboard.
Before contacting us, please make sure they do not see the link in their email inbox or junk/spam mail. If they cannot find their unique link, please reach out to scholarship@achieveatlanta.org and request the link. Once requested, we will text and email their application link directly to the phone number and email that we have in their Scholar profile.
Where should Scholars submit their course schedule/other documents?
Course documents are uploaded as Scholars complete their Spring Renewal Application. If their document is invalid (missing required information), they will receive an email specifying the issue with their document. Updated documents should be uploaded to the Scholar Dashboard for resubmission.

The Spring Renewal Application is open, but a Scholar doesn't have their full Spring course schedule. Should they still submit the renewal application?
It depends. If the Scholar will have a spring course schedule before the fall term ends, then we recommend they wait. If registration is taking longer than anticipated or they do not expect to have a full schedule before the fall term ends, we recommend that they still complete the application. Scholars who submit their Spring Renewal Application without a schedule will need to upload a document explaining why they do not have one when the spring course is requested in the renewal application.
If a Scholar is on probation, do they need to wait for updated grades to submit my Spring Renewal Application?
Yes, if a Scholar is on probation and is waiting for fall grades, please wait until they have their academic information for the fall term, as they will have to enter their transcript and academic data into the application.
What documents files are accepted as valid? What should be included in Scholars' spring course schedule?
We will accept PDF files and pictures/screenshots as valid forms of documentation. We will not accept Word documents.
Please ensure that your course schedule shows the following:
- Your name OR student ID number
- School name or logo (if the school’s name is listed in the browser link of a screenshot, that is acceptable)
- Term name (e.g. “Spring 2024” or “Fall 2023”)
- Credits enrolled (Scholars are required to be enrolled full time in a minimum of 12 credit hours)
Achieve Atlanta Appeals
What are good reasons for Scholars to submit an appeal?
Scholars who are facing extenuating circumstances and/or are on the margins of eligibility (i.e., an EFC just above our eligibility threshold or a GPA/completion rate just below our academic requirements) may be good candidates for an appeal.
Students who are graduating in the current term and have less than a full-time course load to meet their graduation requirements may also be good candidates for an appeal.
How can I support a student with an appeal?
Please encourage them to submit supporting documentation that clearly demonstrates any extenuating circumstances the student may be facing. You may also submit a statement on the student’s behalf.
If the student is submitting a part-time appeal, please have their advisor complete the part-time verification form.
How do Scholars get the application for appeals?
To request an appeal link, Scholars should reach out to scholarship@achieveatlanta.org or give us a call at 404-880-3500 after they complete the renewal and submit all required documentation.
How long after an appeal is made does it take to hear back?
Once an appeal is submitted, we anticipate it will be reviewed within 3 weeks of the submission of all required documentation.
Is there a set amount of appeals a Scholar can make?
There currently is no limit to the number of appeals a scholar can submit. However, the Appeals Committee does consider a scholar’s total number of submitted appeals during the review process.
Check Disbursements
I’ve received a check for a student who is currently not meeting your eligibility criteria. What should we do before returning the check?
Before returning a Scholarship check, please follow these steps:
- Double-check the Achieve Atlanta Weekly Check Report to confirm if the student is part-time eligible.
- Reach out to finaid@achieveatlanta.org to inquire if the check needs to be returned.
Oftentimes, depending on various factors, Achieve Atlanta may make the decision to allow the student to keep the funds for the term.
I know notes must be attached to any returned check. What is an example of a reason checks should be returned?
The biggest reason a check should be returned is if a student is not enrolled at the institution (i.e., fully withdrawn, transferred, did not start classes).
How do we add someone to a check report?
Email nmurillo@achieveatlanta.org with the email address you’d like added to the check report.
What contact information should Scholars use if they have questions?
Scholars should direct questions to scholarship@achievealtlanta.org or 404-880-3500.
Financial aid administrators should direct questions to finaid@achieveatlanta.org or 404-588-3208.
Where should we return checks to?
Refunds should be made out to Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and should include the student’s name, and/or ID, and the reason for returning the funds. Please mail the return check to:

Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta

Completion and Emergency Grants
How can we support Scholars in preparing their grant applications?
Here is a step-by-step application guide to assist with the process!
Does a Scholar need to be enrolled to apply for an emergency grant?
Yes. A student must be enrolled and an active Achieve Atlanta Scholar (received funding for the current term) to apply for an emergency grant.
